On December 27, 2025, at the grand audio launch of his final film, Jana Nayagan, held at the Bukit Jalil Stadium in Malaysia, Vijay delivered an emotional farewell speech.

Vijay stated he is “giving up cinema” to dedicate the next 30 to 33 years of his life to public service.
He expressed that for the fans who stood in lines for him in theaters, he is now ready to “stand for them” through his political party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK).

His 69th and last film, Jana Nayagan, directed by H. Vinoth, is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on January 9, 2026.
Beginning his journey as a child artist in 1984 and debuting as a lead in 1992, Vijay’s career spans over 33 years, during which he became one of Tamil cinema’s most celebrated and influential superstars.
