Security forces have killed five Indian-sponsored militants in a successful operation in Bajaur, while Major Adil Zaman was martyred during an exchange of fire with the terrorists.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation on 29 December in the Khar area of Bajaur district following reports of the presence of militants linked to the Indian proxy group Fitna-al-Khawarij.
During the operation, five militants operating under Indian sponsorship were killed as a result of effective retaliatory action by the security forces. Weapons and ammunition were also recovered from the possession of the slain militants.
ISPR stated that Major Adil Zaman embraced martyrdom after fighting bravely during an intense firefight with the terrorists. He was leading his team from the front positions at the time of the engagement.
According to the military’s media wing, the killed militants were involved in multiple terrorist attacks against security forces and law-enforcement agencies, as well as in the killing of innocent civilians.
Clearance operations are ongoing in the area to eliminate any remaining Indian-sponsored militants.
ISPR further said that under the vision of Azm-e-Istehkam, approved by the Federal Apex Committee as part of the National Action Plan, security forces and law-enforcement agencies will continue their sustained counter-terrorism campaign with full resolve to eliminate foreign-sponsored terrorism from the country.
