Karachi: Four bodies, including a woman and three children, were found in a house near the Sohrab Goth Ganna Mandi area of Karachi.
Police have taken the head of the household, Najeebullah, and his son into custody and have launched an investigation into the incident.
According to police, the deceased were identified as 35-year-old Fatima, 10-year-old Sonaam, three-year-old Arzoo and two-year-old Armaan.
Police said initial investigations suggest the incident appears to be a case of suicide, although further inquiries are ongoing. Fatima’s husband, Najeebullah, has been detained for questioning.
In his initial statement, Najeebullah told police that the incident occurred following domestic disputes. Police said Fatima was an Afghan national, while Najeebullah is originally from Layyah and works at the vegetable market.
According to details, Najeebullah had married Fatima as his second wife after divorcing his first wife. He had two children with Fatima and five children from his first marriage.
Among the deceased children, Sonaam was from his first wife. At the time of the incident, one son was with Najeebullah at the vegetable market.
Speaking to the media, Najeebullah’s friend, Nawab, said that he was financially stable and his business was running well. He added that Najeebullah had purchased a new house three months ago and that Fatima was his second wife.
Nawab said the first wife frequently contacted the children by phone, which often led to disputes within the household.
Sindh Interior Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar has taken notice of the incident and directed the SSP East to conduct a thorough investigation. Police said a final conclusion will be reached after a detailed review of all evidence and that all aspects of the case are being examined carefully.
