The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has suspended six officers who were found absent without permission from their monitoring duties at sugar mills.
According to the FBR, the officers were immediately suspended as part of the authority’s zero-tolerance policy against negligence in official duties.
They had been assigned under Section 40B of the Sales Tax Act 1990 to ensure effective, transparent, and uninterrupted monitoring of sugar production.
Their absence was detected during routine monitoring by the Large Tax Office (LTO) in Lahore. Considering the seriousness of the negligence, the LTO recommended disciplinary action under established rules and regulations.
Orders for immediate suspension were issued to ensure accountability and prevent any potential disruption in the monitoring process.
The FBR reiterated its commitment to maintaining discipline, integrity, and professional standards across all field formations, stating that any failure, mismanagement, or non-compliance with assigned responsibilities will be dealt with strictly in accordance with the law.
