Young Pakistani camel racer Ahsan Yaseen has claimed a major international title after delivering a standout performance at the 54th Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Camel Racing Festival in Sharjah.
The 18-year-old secured first place in the prestigious race, winning the Golden Camel Trophy along with a cash prize of 50,000 dirhams.
Starting the two-kilometre race from sixth position, Yaseen steadily overtook his rivals before crossing the finish line in first place.
Currently studying engineering in Dubai, Yaseen completed the race in an impressive time of three minutes and 47 seconds. His determined performance drew praise from both local and international spectators, who applauded his skill and resilience.
Yaseen trains at the Hamdan bin Mohammed Heritage Centre and regularly prepares for competitions held across the UAE and other countries. Speaking after his victory, he expressed pride in representing Pakistan on an international stage.
“Camel racing is usually seen as a sport of the Arab world, but winning this race for Pakistan is an indescribable feeling for me,” he said.
His achievement has been widely welcomed as a proud moment for Pakistan, highlighting the growing presence of Pakistani athletes in traditional regional sports.
