The Karachi administration has enforced a two-month daytime ban on the entry of dumpers and heavy vehicles into the city, according to a notification issued on Tuesday.
A surge in high-speed dumper truck accidents, leading to numerous fatalities and injuries, has compelled authorities to introduce a series of safety measures.
According to a notification, the entry of heavy traffic into the city will be prohibited from 6:00am to 10:00pm. The daytime ban on the entry of heavy vehicles has been imposed for a period of two months.
As per the notification, heavy traffic will be allowed to travel from the Super Highway to the New Karachi Industrial Area.
Similarly, heavy vehicles will be permitted to use the National Highway via Godam Chowrangi, Younus Chowrangi, and Dawood Chowrangi up to Jam Sadiq Bridge.
Heavy traffic will also be allowed to commute from the Northern Bypass to Paracha Chowk and Siemens Chowrangi, from the Northern Bypass to Gulbai, from Mauripur to Karachi Port, and via the Link Road from Kathore to the Sassi Toll Plaza.
