The Pakistan Under-19 cricket team celebrated their recent title victory with a press conference at a private hotel, where players and management reflected on the strategic planning and “fearless” mindset that led to their success.
Strategic Preparation & Fearless Play Head coach Shahid Anwar revealed that the journey began in June with merit-based trials of 70 players.
The management’s core philosophy was to encourage aggressive, fearless cricket. Anwar emphasized that the goal was not just to win the trophy but to “win hearts” through a positive approach to the game.
Team mentor and former captain Sarfaraz Ahmed played a pivotal role in shaping the squad’s temperament.
He focused on instilling confidence and maturity, specifically advising the players to maintain dignity and focus on their game even when faced with the “negative attitude” of opponents like India.
Sarfaraz stressed that the victory was a collective effort, highlighting crucial partnerships and lower-order contributions rather than individual brilliance.
The team’s morale received a significant boost following a meeting with the Prime Minister, who announced a reward of Rs10 million for each player. Sarfaraz noted that such high-level recognition is vital for the players’ spirits.
Standout performer Sameer Minhas and teammate Farhan Yousuf echoed the sentiment of playing natural, aggressive cricket without the fear of failure.
The captain noted that the management took responsibility for potential defeats, allowing the players to perform with total freedom.
The team expressed a unified commitment to building on this success for the future of Pakistan cricket.
