The World Bank has approved $700 million in financing for Pakistan under the Pakistan Public Resources for Inclusive Development Program.
According to details, the World Bank stated that the Pakistan Public Resources for Inclusive Development Program aims to promote macroeconomic stability and improve public service delivery. Under the program, total financing of up to $1.35 billion will be provided.
World Bank officials said that $600 million has been approved for the federal government, while $100 million has been allocated for Sindh. The release of funds will be linked to the achievement of reform targets. The program focuses on improving the tax system and ensuring transparent financial management.
Officials added that enhancing digital data and financial systems is aimed at improving service delivery. The approval of the loan by the World Bank is being described as a positive development toward stabilizing Pakistan’s economy.
It is worth noting that earlier, Federal Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb said that India once again faced failure at the international level, as the World Bank approved financing for Pakistan’s Reko Diq project.
During a Senate Standing Committee on Finance meeting in June, chaired by Senator Saleem Mandviwalla, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb briefed the committee, stating that India attempted to block approval during the IMF board meeting and also tried to halt the World Bank Executive Board meeting, but was unsuccessful.
