The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on Friday witnessed another volatile session as the benchmark KSE-100 Index lost over 500 points.
At close, the benchmark index settled at 171,404.48, a decline of 556.16 points or 0.32%.
Selling pressure was seen across major sectors, including cement, chemicals, commercial banks, fertilizers, oil and gas exploration companies, oil marketing companies (OMCs), and power generation.
On Thursday, the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) maintained its strong upward momentum, with the benchmark KSE-100 index closing at a new all-time high.
The index gained 1,646.79 points, or 0.97%, driven by falling Pakistan Investment Bond (PIB) yields, positive macroeconomic indicators, and increased merger and acquisition activity across key sectors.
In another development, Pakistan is expected to launch its inaugural Panda Bond, targeting $250 million under the broader $1 billion program, Finance Minister Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb said on Friday.
Meanwhile in the currency market, the Pakistani rupee saw marginal improvement against the US dollar in the inter-bank market, gaining Rs0.01 to close at Rs280.25.
