Judicial Magistrate Ali Akbar of Lahore Cantt has handed over DSP Usman Haider, who was arrested in the murder case of his wife and daughter, to the police on a three-day physical remand.
The judicial magistrate heard the police request, in which a 14-day physical remand of the accused was sought. Burki police have registered a case under murder charges.
The accused, DSP Usman Haider, was produced before the court, which approved a three-day physical remand and directed the police to submit a progress report on the investigation at the next hearing.
Meanwhile, shocking revelations have emerged in the said double-murder case.
During a press conference in Lahore, DIG Investigation Zeeshan Raza said that, so far, DSP Usman Haider is the sole accused in the case, adding that the accused used a government vehicle and a private pistol to carry out the murders and made calculated attempts to destroy evidence.
According to the DIG, police became suspicious of the accused’s actions, noting that six mobile phone numbers were registered in his name. Forensic investigations have indicated his involvement in the crime.
Zeeshan Raza added that this was not an honor killing, and no such justification would be allowed to benefit the accused.
He said DSP Usman Haider had contracted two marriages, had himself registered a kidnapping case of his wife and daughter, committed the murders alone, and disposed of the bodies.
He further said that the accused used to torture his wife over demands for a separate residence, and the daughter supported her mother rather than her father.
It is worth mentioning that DSP Usman Haider confessed yesterday to killing his wife and daughter. About a month ago, he had registered a kidnapping case regarding them.
