A woman was killed in Karachi’s Orangi Town after asking tenants for unpaid rent, police said, adding that the husband and wife accused of the murder have been arrested.
According to investigation officials, the woman’s body was recovered from bushes near Hawa Goth in Orangi Town. The deceased was identified as Asma, wife of Mansoor. Asma lived with her husband in a rented house in Orangi Saadhe Gyarah.
Investigators stated that the house had two portions, with another family residing in the second portion. The property owner had assigned Asma the responsibility of collecting rent. The accused couple had allegedly failed to pay rent for the past three to four months.
On December 4, when Asma went to demand the rent, the accused couple allegedly pushed her, causing her to fall and die on the spot.
After the incident, the suspects reportedly placed her body in a sack, transported it on a motorcycle, and dumped it near Hawa Goth. The couple fled the scene following the murder.
Police officials said that a missing person report had already been registered. During the course of the investigation, the accused couple was traced and arrested. At the time of the incident, Asma’s husband was at work.
The female suspect has been identified as Kishwar, while the male suspect is Adnan. The body has been shifted to a hospital for legal formalities, and further investigation is underway.
