A magnitude 7.2 earthquake has hit near Japan’s northern coast, prompting a tsunami warning.
The Japan Meteorological agency said the quake hit off the coast of Aomori Prefecture on Monday night, local time.
A tsunami warning is in place for Aomori, Hokkaido and Iwate prefectures.
