Following the tragic death of 3-year-old child Ibrahim, who fell into an open manhole in the Nipa area of Karachi, a public campaign has been launched against the Town Chairman in Gulshan-e-Iqbal.
As part of the campaign initiated in Gulshan-e-Iqbal Town, pictures of the town chairman have been posted on every open gutter and rubbish heap across various parts of the town.
Residents placed banners labeled “Talaash-e-Gumshuda” (Missing Person) directly on open manholes throughout Gulshan Town, targeting Chairman Dr. Fawad over safety failures.The posters displayed at different locations in Gulshan Town clearly bear slogans such as “On behalf of the residents,” “Missing Person” (Talaash Gumshudah), and “Spend the People’s Money on the People.”
On the other hand, the Gulshan Town Chairman has publicly disclaimed responsibility for installing manhole covers, a stance that has drawn sharp criticism from the local residents.
It should be noted that last week, near the Nipa Chowrangi in Karachi’s Gulshan-e-Iqbal area, 3-year-old Ibrahim walked out of a departmental store with his parents and stood on a manhole.

Since the manhole was missing its proper cover, it had been temporarily sealed with a piece of cardboard.
The cardboard failed to bear the child’s weight, causing Ibrahim to fall into the open manhole and disappear.
The body of the child who fell into the open manhole was recovered 15 hours later from a drain one kilometer away.
