The full schedule for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka, was officially announced on November 25, 2025. The tournament is scheduled to run from February 7 to March 8, 2026.
India and Pakistan have been placed in the same group.
India and Pakistan will play each other in the 2026 Men’s T20 World Cup on February 15 in Colombo as per the schedule.
The tournament will feature 20 teams divided into four groups of five. The top two teams from each group will advance to the Super 8 stage, followed by the semi-finals and the final.
Venues
Matches will be played in five Indian cities (Ahmedabad, Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai, and Mumbai) and three Sri Lankan cities (Colombo, Kandy).
The semi-finals will be held in Kolkata and Mumbai. If India qualifies, their semi-final match will be played in Mumbai.
The final is scheduled to be held in Ahmedabad at the Narendra Modi Stadium on March 8.
However, due to a neutral venue agreement with the BCCI, all Pakistan matches will be played in Sri Lanka. If Pakistan reaches the final, it will be moved to Colombo.
The format for the tournament is the same as the previous one in 2024 in the USA and the West Indies, where the 20 teams were divided into five groups of four.
The top two teams from each of the four groups progress to a Super Eight phase, where they will be further divided into two groups of four each.
The top two teams in each of the two Super Eights groups will then qualify for the semi-finals, which will be followed by the final.
India are the defending champions, having beaten South Africa in the final of the 2024 T20 World Cup in Barbados.
