After the crash of the Indian Tejas fighter jet at the Dubai Air Show, a picture of Indian cricket team fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah from the Asia Cup has gone viral on social media, showing him mimicking a jet-crash action.
Users are sharing Bumrah’s photo in the context of the Indian jet crash, using it to mock the Indian Air Force.
The image is from the Asia Cup final played in September between Pakistan and India. In that match, Bumrah humorously mimicked the action of Pakistani fast bowler Haris Rauf.
Matches between Pakistan and India during the Asia Cup were played under highly tense conditions.
The Indian team had refused to shake hands with Pakistani players, citing the context of the May conflict, which broke the traditional spirit of the game and further polarized both teams and their fans.
During the match, in response to trolling by Indian fans, Haris Rauf had gestured toward the downing of Indian aircraft in May through his bowling action.
Later, when Pakistan was batting, Jasprit Bumrah imitated Rauf’s action while taking a wicket, in a satirical response.
This particular image has now gone viral on social media, with users using it to mock the Indian Air Force in light of the Tejas jet incident.
