In Pakistan, a Sikh woman, Sarbjit Kaur, who was part of a group coming from India for Baba Guru Nanak’s birthday procession, embraced Islam and married a Pakistani citizen.
The woman was given the Islamic name Noor. According to the marriage certificate, 48-year-old Sarbjit Kaur married Pakistani citizen Nasir Hussain, a resident of Farooqabad in Sheikhupura district, on November 5.
The marriage contract (Nikah) mentions a dowry (Mehr) of 10,000 rupees, which has already been paid. Sarbjit Kaur had arrived in Pakistan with Indian pilgrims on November 4, but she was not among the pilgrims returning to India on November 13. On the same day, her visa had also expired.
As a result, she was declared missing and a search was initiated, but it was later discovered that the woman had embraced Islam and married a Pakistani citizen.
It is worth noting that Pakistan has taken significant steps to improve the worship and festivals of Sikh pilgrims, and Sikh pilgrims have praised the Pakistani government during each of their visits.
