Justice Shams Mahmood Mirza of Lahore High Court resigned from his position. Justice Shams Mahmood Mirza sent his resignation to President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari, as reported by national media citing sources.
According to details, Justice Shams Mahmood Mirza resigned due to personal reasons; he was fifth on the seniority list of Lahore High Court.
Recently, two Supreme Court judges, Justice Athar Minallah and Justice Mansoor Ali Shah, also resigned from their positions. Both sent their resignations to the President.
Later, the President approved the resignations of both judges. Both judges had recently expressed reservations about the establishment of the Constitutional Court.
It is worth noting that the establishment of the Federal Constitutional Court was implemented with the approval of the 27th Constitutional Amendment. The President had administered the oath to the new Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court, Amin-ud-Din Khan.
