In major development into the investigation of suicide bombing in the federal capital, police have traced the route of Islamabad bomber, saying that the attacker used online bike service to reach the court premises.
According to police sources, the suicide bomber arrived at the courthouse for Rs200, using an online bike service. The rider who transported him has been taken into custody.
Investigators revealed that the attacker traveled from Golra Mor to the G-11 courthouse on a motorcycle, booked through an online ride-hailing app. The rider reportedly charged Rs200 for the trip.
Police sources added that Safe City cameras are being used to determine how the bomber reached Golra before booking the ride.
It is worth noting that in the recent suicide attack outside the Islamabad courthouse, 12 people were martyred and more than two dozen others were injured. The blast took place near the entrance of the district court, an area usually crowded with lawyers, litigants and visitors during the day.
PM Sharif has blamed India for the attack and another assault earlier in the day at a cadet college near the border with Afghanistan.
The case has been registered at the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) police station under the Anti-Terrorism Act and other relevant sections.
