LAHORE: Pakistan’s spin-bowling all-rounder Shadab Khan is expected to make his long-awaited return to international cricket as team management looks to reintegrate him ahead of next year’s T20 World Cup campaign.
According to sources close to the PCB, head coach Mike Hesson, along with the selection committee, is eager to include Shadab in the squad for the tri-series in order to test his form and match readiness following his recovery from a shoulder injury.
There are reports that officials from both the medical panel and team physiotherapist are pleased with Shadab’s progress. The 26-year-old all-rounder has recommenced full bowling sessions and has been able to take part in training drills without discomfort.
“Shadab’s recovery has been encouraging. He’s bowling with rhythm and gradually regaining full match fitness,” said a PCB insider to Dawn on Monday.
The Islamabad United captain has been nursing a shoulder injury since the start of this year, which had kept him out of some international assignments and domestic fixtures.
His absence was felt during Pakistan’s recent T20 series as the team failed to find balance in the spin department.
