In Islamabad’s F-7 area, the well-known Kabul Restaurant made headlines when the Capital Development Authority (CDA) sealed its open-air dining area for violating the new cashless payment policy issued under the government’s Digital Pakistan initiative.
According to details, the incident drew attention when a local citizen, through a video and post on social media, alleged that the restaurant was refusing to accept digital payments, raising suspicions of potential tax evasion.
As the post went viral, debates erupted on various platforms, and public reaction forced the CDA to take immediate action.
CDA Chairman and Chief Commissioner Muhammad Ali Randhawa took prompt notice and canceled the restaurant’s approval for open-air seating, stating that the establishment had failed to comply with the cashless policy.
This move was also praised by Federal Minister for IT and Telecom Shiza Fatima Khawaja, who retweeted Chairman Randhawa’s statement on X, appreciating the government’s enforcement of the digital policy.
