The Naanbai Association in Rawalpindi has announced a complete shutter-down strike starting November 5, saying it will continue until their demands are met.
The association cited the rising cost of flour and persistent harassment of tandoor owners as key reasons behind the protest.
According to details, officials of the Naanbai Association said that cases are being registered against naanbais, tandoors are being sealed, and people’s livelihoods are being disrupted.
The association said that if the administration ensures the supply of quality flour, naanbais will not increase the price of roti.
They added that the price of flour has doubled over the past two months, yet the government has provided no subsidy to support them.
Leaders of the association further said that natural gas is unavailable, forcing tandoor owners to operate using LPG cylinders instead.
