The Sindh Police has launched a training campaign to familiarize its drivers in Karachi with the newly introduced E-Ticketing System.
It may be recalled that on Monday, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah inaugurated the Traffic Regulation and Citation System (TRACS). Under the new mechanism, traffic police officers monitor violations across the city in real time through surveillance cameras and send e-challans directly to violators’ home addresses.
Following the system’s launch, the Karachi Traffic Police issued over 2,650 electronic challans on Tuesday, amounting to Rs 1.2 million in fines.
According to an official letter from the DIG Training Department to the DIGs of Karachi Police, including Traffic, Technical & Transport, Rapid Response Force (RRF), Special Protection Unit (SPU), Crime and Investigation, Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), and Special Branch, the training will begin on November 1.
The letter stated that the training aims to enhance police drivers’ skills and familiarize them with the new TRACS law. A total of 925 drivers from various Sindh Police departments will participate in two sessions.
In a separate statement, a Sindh Police spokesperson said that 500 personnel from the Karachi Range, 100 from the Traffic Police, 100 from the Technical & Transport wing, 50 from RRF, 25 from SPU/CPEC, 25 from Crime and Investigation, 25 from CTD, 50 from the Special Branch, and 50 from the DIG Training office will undergo the training.
The spokesperson added that the training sessions will be held at the Scouts Auditorium of the Sindh Boy Scouts Association.
