Earlier, Saba Qamar stated that she and others mainly visit Karachi for work but do not like living there due to the cleanliness and infrastructure issues.
Her specific comments include
“We go there for work, but honestly, if you don’t like it, you just don’t—the city has become really dirty.”

When facing backlash for these remarks, she defended her stance on social media, writing on X (formerly Twitter), “It’s only about Karachi City, not about people of Karachi… So relax. Mujhey Frankfurt bhi nahi pasand, tu? Har baat ko nationalism kay saath jornay ki koi khas zaroorat tu nahi hoti. Har baat pay bhatangar.”
These statements have sparked an online debate, with many citizens agreeing with the actresses about the city’s deteriorating conditions and infrastructure issues, while others have criticized them for speaking negatively about the city that provides them with work opportunities.
Actress Javeria Saud also responded, saying that Karachi is not dirty, but rather, it is the mindset of certain individuals that needs changing.
Facing significant backlash, Omar used her X (formerly Twitter) account to clarify her remarks.
She emphasized that her comments were about the city’s condition and not the people of Karachi.
