LAHORE: Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise Multan Sultans has clarified that Ali Tareen’s criticism was directed at the PSL administration, not the league itself.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the franchise congratulated the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on securing a new title sponsor for the league and reaffirmed its commitment to working together for the betterment of PSL.
The statement said, “PSL has once again secured a major title sponsorship deal, and the PSL management deserves appreciation for this achievement.”
It further added, “We acknowledge and respect the PSL administration’s principle that issues should be resolved in boardrooms. The criticism made by Ali Tareen was aimed at the management, not the league.”
Calling the PSL a national asset, the franchise reiterated its dedication to strengthening the tournament. “Ali Tareen’s intent is simple — to build a stronger PSL,” the statement read.
Multan Sultans added that they have proposed solutions to help create a more transparent and collaborative professional structure for the league.
Earlier, during a press conference at Karachi’s National Bank Stadium, PSL Chief Operating Officer Salman Naseer had remarked that he “could not defame the PSL the way Ali Tareen did.”
He added that any discussions with Ali Tareen would take place “behind closed doors,” emphasizing that “when issues arise within a family, they should be settled privately.”
