Officers, including an inspector, of the Crime Control Department (CCD) were caught red handed while collecting Rs4 million in ransom following the abduction of a businessman in Lahore.
According to local media reports, a CCD inspector along with other officers kidnapped Waleed near his home in Lahore and demanded a ransom of 50 million rupees from his family for his release. They also threatened to kill the hostage if the ransom was not paid.
The CCD inspector negotiated a ransom of 4 million rupees with Waleed’s family. To arrange the amount, the family sold a house in a private housing society.
The inspector summoned the hostage’s family to different locations across the city to collect the ransom. Near LOS, the inspector collected 4 million rupees.
Meanwhile, police from Kahna police station arrested the inspector and his constable accomplice along with the ransom money.
The hostage, Waleed, was safely handed over to his family. A case has been registered at the CCD Model Town police station against the officers caught red-handed in the kidnapping for ransom.
The DIG Operations Lahore took notice of the incident and ordered the recovery of the hostage, which led to the arrest of the kidnapper officer and his accomplice.
