The Wildlife Rangers in Rawalpindi have recovered a rare Indian pangolin and arrested three men for attempting to sell the endangered species illegally.
According to a Wildlife Department spokesperson, the Rangers conducted a successful operation, recovering the Indian pangolin, which is protected under wildlife conservation laws.
The arrested suspects confessed to attempting to sell the animal for Rs 60,000.
Legal action has been initiated against them, and a fine of Rs 90,000 has been imposed.
Following the operation, the pangolin was safely released back into its natural habitat.
The officials said the illegal trade of rare and endangered species is strictly prohibited under Pakistani law.
The action was taken after a video of the animal’s illegal sale surfaced on social media, prompting an immediate response from the Wildlife team.
