In the ongoing talks between Pakistan and Afghanistan, the Pakistani delegation has presented its final stance to the Afghan Taliban regarding the elimination of cross-border terrorism.
According to security sources, during the discussions held in Istanbul, the Pakistani delegation clearly conveyed to the Afghan Taliban delegation that Pakistan will not accept any form of terrorist patronage by the Afghan Taliban.
The Pakistani delegation also made it clear that if concrete and decisive steps are required to eliminate cross-border terrorism, they will be taken.
Sources said that, in contrast to Pakistan’s position, the arguments of the Afghan Taliban are illogical and disconnected from ground realities. It is clearly visible that the Taliban are pursuing some other agenda.
Sources further stated that this agenda of the Afghan Taliban is by no means in the interest of the stability of Afghanistan itself, Pakistan, or the region.
Further progress in the negotiations depends on the positive attitude of the Afghan Taliban. Pakistan’s demands are completely clear, evidence-based, and represent a real solution to the issue. The Afghan Taliban’s stubbornness and lack of cooperation have become evident to other parties as well, according to security sources.
Yesterday, the first round of talks between Pakistan and the Taliban regime in power in Afghanistan was held in Istanbul, during which Pakistan presented a comprehensive plan to the Taliban for the prevention of terrorism.
