Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has approved the expansion of the Karachi Safe City Project – Phase II, aimed at strengthening urban security and advancing smart policing in the provincial capital.
According to a post on the Sindh Information Department’s official X account, the decision was made during a high-level meeting chaired by the Chief Minister.
The meeting was attended by Interior Minister Zia-ul-Hasan Lanjar, Chief Secretary Asif Haider Shah, and senior officials.
During the briefing, the Chief Minister emphasized that Karachi, being the economic hub of Pakistan, demands the highest level of public safety. He directed authorities to ensure robust network connectivity for data transmission and to integrate law enforcement databases to enhance coordinated policing.
The Chief Minister reviewed the progress of Phase I of the project and instructed officials to accelerate implementation, particularly in the areas of civil works and equipment installation, stressing that neither quality nor deadlines should be compromised.
Murad Ali Shah also gave in-principle approval for Phase II, under which additional areas of Karachi will be brought under the Safe City network. He further directed the Inspector General of Police to finalize budget and manpower details and ensure timely execution.
Highlighting the project’s broader impact, the Chief Minister said the Safe City initiative would serve as a milestone in crime prevention, traffic management, and citizen safety, adding that the Sindh government would extend full support to make it a model security project for the province.
