The Sindh High Court has extended the stay order against the arrest of former opposition leader in the Sindh Assembly, Firdous Shamim Naqvi, while also seeking a report from the NCCIA.
According to details, the Sindh High Court heard the case regarding the stay order against the arrest of former opposition leader Firdous Shamim Naqvi. The court raised questions over the allegations made by the National Cyber Crime Agency against the petitioner.
Justice Umar Sial of the Sindh High Court remarked that, according to the law, the Sindh High Court does not have the authority to seek a response from the Islamabad IG. The judge asked whether the cases that were previously with the FIA have now been transferred to the NCCIA.
Justice Umar Sial further questioned why an elderly person (Firdous Shamim Naqvi) was being dragged around. “If there is any pending case against the petitioner, submit a report,” he said.
Firdous Shamim Naqvi stated, “I am 70 years old and a resident of Sindh. I am unwell. I am being subjected to injustice. I have learned that my arrest warrants have been issued.”
The court remarked that it cannot issue any order to the Islamabad IG.
Firdous Shamim Naqvi asked, “Why am I repeatedly being summoned to Islamabad? The Islamabad IG is part of the JIT that is calling me there.”
The court said, “We respect Firdous Shamim Naqvi. The FIA now has nothing to do with PECA.” Subsequently, the court extended the stay order against the arrest of Firdous Shamim Naqvi.
