Tremors of a 5.6 magnitude earthquake were felt in Islamabad, Swat, and surrounding areas, causing panic among the public.
According to the Meteorological Department, the earthquake was felt in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Swat, Chitral, and nearby regions.
It was further reported that the earthquake struck on October 17, 2025, at 5:15 PM, with a recorded magnitude of 5.6. Its epicenter was in the Hindu Kush region of Afghanistan, at a depth of 120 kilometers.
The tremors caused fear and panic among residents, who recited prayers and rushed out of their homes and offices.
There have been no immediate reports of casualties or damage.
On Wednesday, Swat and its surrounding areas felt moderate earthquake tremors. According to initial data from the seismological center, the earthquake measured 4.5 in magnitude on the Richter scale.
The epicenter of the earthquake was located in the Hindu Kush mountain range, a region known for frequent seismic activity due to tectonic movements along the Hindu Kush fault line.
