Saudi Arabia has introduced an October 2025 update to its Premium Residency program, outlining new fees, benefits, and application procedures, ending the need to have a kafeel (sponsor) under the Kafala system.
This scheme allows foreign nationals to live, work, and do business in Saudi Arabia without the need for a local sponsor (kafeel). According to reports, the Saudi government currently offers two types of Premium Residency:
- Permanent Residency: Requires a one-time payment of SAR 800,000 (approximately USD 213,000) and grants lifetime residency.
- Renewable Residency: Requires an annual fee of SAR 100,000 (approximately USD 26,700), and can be renewed each year.
Benefits
Holders of Premium Residency are entitled to several privileges, including:
- No need for a kafeel (sponsor) to live or work in Saudi Arabia
- Ability to own property (excluding Makkah, Madinah, and border areas)
- Permission to start a business or take up employment
- Eligibility to sponsor spouse and children
- Visa-free travel within Saudi Arabia
- Access to banking, education, and healthcare services
- Freedom to transfer money abroad
However, the scheme does not grant Saudi citizenship or voting rights.

- Be medically fit
