Chief Operating Officer of Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KW&SC), Engineer Asadullah Khan, visited Nazimabad along with senior Rangers officials to review the ongoing operation against water theft and to ensure fair water distribution across the city.
The visit focused on assessing progress in efforts to dismantle illegal water connections and curb organized water theft, which has long contributed to Karachi’s water shortages.
President of SITE Association Ahmed Azeem and Saleem Barak also joined the visit.
The COO KW&SC briefed association representatives on the progress of the campaign and outlined future plans to strengthen monitoring and enforcement.
Speaking to the media, Engineer Asadullah Khan commended the vital role played by Rangers in the operation, describing their contribution as “key and exemplary,” while also praising the outstanding performance of the Water Corporation’s Anti-Theft Cell.
He said that during recent joint actions, eight illegal water connections were cut off, exposing a large, organized network involved in stealing water on a massive scale. “Water theft is one of the main causes of the city’s shortage,” Khan said. “Under the clear directives of Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab, this illegal practice will not be tolerated under any circumstances.” He vowed strict legal action against those responsible, adding that the Water Corporation would leave no stone unturned in ensuring accountability.
Representatives of the SITE Association appreciated the joint efforts of the Rangers and the KW&SC, calling the campaign a positive and much-needed step for the city.
They expressed hope that the ongoing crackdown would continue to ensure fair water distribution for all citizens.
