The government has ordered the suspension of mobile internet in the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad, with implementation starting at midnight tonight, causing concern among residents of both cities.
According to details, the federal government has decided to shut down 3G and 4G mobile internet services in the twin cities, effective from tonight until further notice.
As per the official notification issued by the Ministry of Interior and Narcotics Control, the competent authority has approved the suspension of internet services.
The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has been instructed to implement the decision in coordination with the Commissioner and Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad, as well as the Commissioner and Regional Police Officer (RPO) Rawalpindi.
The notification emphasizes that all relevant authorities, including the PTA, Chief Commissioners of Rawalpindi and Islamabad, and concerned police officials, must ensure compliance with the order to suspend internet services.
Citizens believe that the shutdown of 3G and 4G services will cause communication difficulties for the residents of Rawalpindi and Islamabad. Worryingly, no specific reason has been stated for this decision.
