A late-night police raid on the Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) headquarters in Lahore led to violent clashes between party workers and law enforcement as police attempted to arrest party chief Saad Rizvi.
According to details, the situation escalated when enraged TLP activists attacked the police with stones and iron rods during the raid. As a result, at least three police constables sustained injuries.
In response, police fired tear gas shells, turning Multan Road into a virtual battlefield.
Videos circulating on social media show TLP workers fleeing amid tear gas fire. Other clips depict protesters displaying used bullet casings and empty tear gas shells, claiming excessive force was used.
The crackdown came ahead of a major anti-Israel protest TLP had announced outside the U.S. Embassy in Islamabad for Friday.
In anticipation of the protest, Islamabad authorities began placing containers at Faizabad Interchange — a location historically associated with TLP sit-ins.
In a statement issued Thursday morning, TLP claimed that several of its members had been arrested and that police had conducted raids at their residences.
Police sources said TLP had called a large number of supporters to Lahore, many of whom were staying in temporary camps near the party’s main office. When law enforcement launched the raid, these supporters launched a coordinated attack, pushing back the police with stones, sticks, and iron rods.
