The “Pak ID Mobile App” introduced by NADRA has completely changed the way of obtaining identity services in Pakistan. Now, citizens no longer need to visit NADRA offices for identity cards or other documents, as the entire process can be completed easily through a smartphone.
Through this app, citizens can apply for identity cards, pay the required fee, and also monitor the progress of their application live.
According to NADRA, more than 1.2 million applications were submitted through this app in the last quarter, and a 45 percent increase in digital applications was seen during this period. Now, an average of more than 10,000 cases is being processed through Pak ID every day, which constitutes about 10 percent of NADRA’s total operations.
The app has several features for users, including:
- Booking appointments for NADRA centers
- Search for the nearest office
- Find out the expected waiting time
- Upload documents
- Keep digital copies of identity documents
Citizens can make payments through direct debit, debit/credit cards, EMI and internet banking, making the app an example of a completely cashless system.
The app is available in both Urdu and English and can be downloaded for free for Android and iOS users. So far, more than one crore people have downloaded the app, and it has received a 4.8-star rating on the Google Play Store, making it one of Pakistan’s most trusted public service apps.
According to NADRA, more advanced features are being added to the app in the next few months, including:
- Biometric verification at home
- Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based guidance
- Digital identity wallet
- And instant smart notifications.
