KARCHI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Sindh leader Rizwan Khanzada has strongly condemned the unjust and oppressive traffic fines being imposed on Karachi’s citizens, calling them yet another example of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) government’s incompetence, corruption, and anti-Karachi attitude.
Rizwan Khanzada stated that “the Sindh government’s only policy is to exploit and harass the citizens of Karachi.”
“This is the same government that has been draining Karachi’s resources for the past fifteen years. After pushing the city to the brink of destruction, they are now burdening its residents with heavy fines worth millions, while Sindh ministers, advisers, and police officers openly violate traffic laws themselves.”
He added that the Sindh government and the DIG Traffic should first take action against dumpers, trailers, minibuses, chingchi rickshaws, and oil tankers—vehicles that pose daily threats to human lives on Karachi’s roads.
“These illegal vehicles operate freely under the protection of fake number plates displaying Sindh’s cultural symbols. This double standard is unacceptable. Targeting ordinary citizens at the direction of PPP ministers is the worst kind of injustice against the people of Karachi.”
Rizwan Khanzada further said that despite Karachi’s citizens paying billions in taxes, they are deprived of basic necessities like water, electricity, gas, and security.
“Now the PPP government has taken away even their right to live with dignity. The Sindh Police has completely failed to protect people’s lives and property. Crime is on the rise, bribery is rampant, and now the public is being looted under the name of traffic fines.”
He demanded that the IG Sindh and DIG Traffic immediately halt the ongoing fine campaign, warning that if these oppressive actions are not stopped, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf will launch massive street protests alongside the people of Karachi.
In conclusion, Rizwan Khanzada stated, “The corrupt system of the PPP cannot remain imposed on Karachi.
The people of Karachi will no longer tolerate this oppression. If the Sindh government does not come to its senses, a public uprising will take over the streets. The PPP will have to answer for its anti-Karachi policies.”
