A new Peaky Blinders sequel series is recently announced by Netflix and BBC, giving fans two seasons that will continue the story on a new generation of Shelbys in Birmingham in 1953, with Cillian Murphy as an executive producer.
The upcoming show will be created by Steven Knight, who confirmed the news in a statement. “I’m thrilled to be announcing this new chapter in the Peaky Blinders story.
Once again it will be rooted in Birmingham and will tell the story of a city rising from the ashes of the Birmingham blitz. The new generation of Shelbys have taken the wheel and it will be a hell of a ride,” Knight said.
The show is a fictionalized story based on a real-life Birmingham youth gang of the same name that was active in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
While the real Peaky Blinders were known for their distinctive style and street-level crime, they were not a single crime family like the Shelbys. The show’s creator, Steven Knight, invented the entire Shelby family and their complex storylines.

The six-season series, created by Steven Knight, concluded in 2022. A sequel film titled The Immortal Man began filming in September 2024, and a sequel television series was announced in October 2025
