Amid a wave of multinational company exits from Pakistan, Procter & Gamble (P&G), the American consumer goods giant behind brands like Pampers and Head & Shoulders, has announced its decision to wind down its direct operations in the country.
The company will instead adopt a third-party distributor model to maintain its presence in the market.
In a notice submitted to the Pakistan Stock Exchange, Gillette Pakistan Limited, a P&G subsidiary, confirmed the move, stating it forms part of P&G’s broader global restructuring strategy. The board of Gillette Pakistan is expected to convene soon to assess the necessary steps for this transition, which may include delisting the company from the local stock exchange, subject to legal and regulatory compliance.
Founded in 1837, P&G is a leading global player in the consumer goods industry, with a portfolio that includes widely recognized brands such as Tide, Gillette, Pampers, and Head & Shoulders.
In a separate statement, P&G emphasized that the shift aligns with its global push to streamline operations and drive long-term growth.
While the company will cease its manufacturing and commercial activities in Pakistan, it intends to continue serving Pakistani consumers through established local distribution partners.
