The Meteorological Department has confirmed that a low-pressure system in the Arabian Sea has strengthened into a depression.
Now located approximately 440 kilometers south of Karachi, the system has triggered the fourth advisory from the Tropical Cyclone Warning Center in Karachi.
According to the latest update, the depression is positioned at 21.0°N latitude and 67.9°E longitude and continues to move over the Arabian Sea. The weather system is expected to impact Sindh’s coastal districts, bringing rainfall, thunderstorms, and gusty winds.
Light rain and lightning are forecast today in areas including Tharparkar, Umerkot, Badin, Thatta, Sujawal, Tando Muhammad Khan, and Karachi. Residents have been urged to take necessary precautions as unstable weather conditions persist.
The Met Office has also warned of strong winds reaching speeds of 40–50 km/h along the Sindh coastline. Rough seas and high waves are expected, making marine conditions dangerous for small vessels and fishing boats.
Fishermen have been strictly advised to avoid venturing into deep waters until October 3. Coastal and port authorities remain on high alert, and all relevant agencies have been instructed to stay prepared for any emergency.
While the system has not yet developed into a tropical cyclone, officials say it is under continuous observation and further updates will be issued if it intensifies.
