An earthquake tremor was felt in Karachi on Wednesday morning.
As per media reports, a 3.2 magnitude earthquake jolted some parts of Karachi, including Landhi and Malir, at 9:34 today. The epicenter of the quake was seven kilometers away in the morth of Malir and its depth was 10 kilometers.
Karachi experienced a notable series of small but frequent earthquakes in early June 2025, with magnitudes ranging from 2.5 to 3.6, caused by activity on the local Landhi Fault Line.
The city was hit by nearly three dozen earthquakes between June 1st and June 3rd, 2025
This event drew attention to Karachi’s seismic vulnerability due to its location near the boundary of the Indian and Eurasian tectonic plates, despite the city typically experiencing lower-intensity quakes compared to northern Pakistan.
A particularly high-intensity quake in the region occurred in 2001, which was felt in Karachi and caused widespread damage, while the 1945 Mekran coast earthquake and tsunami also affected the larger Sindh region.
