The State of Palestine has welcomed U.S. President Donald Trump’s efforts to end the war in Gaza.
According to an official statement, Palestine affirmed that, together with the United States, regional partners, and the international community, it will pursue a comprehensive agreement to bring the Gaza conflict to an end.
The statement emphasized that such an agreement would pave the way for ending the occupation of Gaza, the West Bank, and other Palestinian territories, ensuring a just peace based on the two-state solution.
The State of Palestine further declared that an independent and sovereign Palestinian state would maintain relations of peace and security with Israel. It also reaffirmed its commitments at the international conference held in New York.
As part of the agreement, steps will be taken to complete the Palestinian reform program, including holding presidential and parliamentary elections within one year of the war’s end.
All candidates will be required to uphold international commitments and the policies of the PLO, ensuring adherence to the principle of “one system, one law, and one Palestinian security force.”
The statement added that Palestine seeks to establish a modern, democratic, and non-militarized state committed to peaceful transfer of power. Within two years, the agreement also envisions the implementation of a curriculum reform program in line with UNESCO standards.
