He said that Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has shown special interest in this project and wants the public to have access to modern, eco-friendly, and quality transportation services.
The provincial minister said that in the initial phase, some of the incoming EV taxis will be designated specifically for women.
He added that the Government of Sindh was the first in Pakistan to introduce eco-friendly EV buses and the first in the region to launch a Pink Bus service for women. The Pink Scooty program for women and female students has also received wide public appreciation.
Sharjeel Memon said that now, along with the Pink EV Taxi for women, the Government of Sindh is set to launch the country’s first EV taxi service.
He added that to reduce transportation issues in Karachi, double-decker buses and more EV buses will soon be added. Work is also ongoing on infrastructure and charging stations for EV vehicles to ensure the project is sustainable and successful.
