Foreign Office Spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan has clarified that the recent agreement between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia is purely of a defensive nature and is not aimed against any third country.
He said that the agreement will play a key role in promoting peace, security, and stability in the region.
During the weekly media briefing, the spokesperson said that the leadership of both countries is committed to elevating bilateral relations to new heights, adding that the strategic defense agreement formalizes a decades-long strong partnership.
He explained that the agreement aims to enhance defense cooperation between the two nations and ensure joint security. Under the agreement, an attack on one country will be considered an attack on both.
Foreign Office Spokesperson further noted that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif visited Saudi Arabia on September 17 at the invitation of the Saudi King. During the visit, the Prime Minister was warmly received, and official-level discussions were held between the two countries.
He emphasized that defense cooperation has been a cornerstone of Pakistan-Saudi relations since the 1960s. In this context, the Strategic Defense Agreement was signed by the Prime Minister of Pakistan and the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia.
