In a match of the Commonwealth Beach Handball Championship played in the Maldives, Pakistan defeated Sri Lanka by two sets. Apart from Pakistan and Sri Lanka, India, Bangladesh, South Africa, and host Maldives are included in the tournament.
Pakistan won the match 0-2, during which the first set was 18-20, and the second was 6-23. During this, Pakistani player Asif Ali was appreciated for his outstanding performance and was declared Man of the Match.
Last night, Pakistan also defeated India 0-2 in the same event. After India and Sri Lanka, Pakistan will also play against Maldives, South Africa, and Bangladesh in the next matches.
The top 4 teams will qualify for the semi-finals, which are to be held on September 21, while the final will be played on September 22. So far, Pakistan’s performance in the event has been good, as a result of which the team’s morale also seems high.
This marks the first occasion that the Maldives is hosting a major event in the scenic city of Kulhudhuffushi, renowned for its stunning coastline and rich local heritage.
