Pakistan is scheduled to play against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in the ongoing T20I Asia Cup on Wednesday. However, the status of the match remains uncertain, as the PCB had earlier announced a boycott of the tournament unless the ICC replaces the controversial match referee, Andy Pycroft.
The PCB had earlier demanded the removal of Andy Pycroft after he allegedly stopped Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha from shaking hands with India’s captain. The board had warned of pulling out of the tournament if its demand was not met.
Moreover, the investigation by the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has confirmed that match referee Andy Pycroft colluded with Indian officials.
Sources revealed that an internal investigation by the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) confirmed that Pycroft acted on the instructions of an Indian venue manager. He allegedly told Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha not to shake hands with Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav.

Meanwhile, the press conference scheduled ahead of Pakistan’s upcoming match against the UAE in Dubai has been postponed in light of the ongoing controversy.
Sources confirm that PCB is currently in consultation with the government regarding a possible boycott of the Asia Cup 2025. A final decision is expected soon, after which the board will either proceed with the tournament or officially announce its withdrawal.
Pakistan’s third group-stage match is scheduled for September 17 against the UAE at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
