Netflix has released the first teaser for The Witcher Season 4, giving audiences their initial look at Liam Hemsworth as Geralt of Rivia. The eight-episode season will debut on October 30.
The preview features Hemsworth’s Geralt locked in battle with a ghostly wraith, presenting a take on the White Wolf that echoes Henry Cavill’s earlier portrayal.
The official synopsis reads: “After the continent-shaping events of Season 3, Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri are torn apart by war and hunted by endless foes. As their paths separate and their goals crystallize, they encounter unexpected allies who may become newfound families. If they can embrace these bonds, they might finally find a way back to each other.”
Henry Cavill, who embodied Geralt for the first three seasons, confirmed his departure in October 2022. “My journey as Geralt of Rivia has been filled with both monsters and adventures. Alas, I will be laying down my medallion and my swords for Season 4,” he wrote on Instagram, announcing that Hemsworth would inherit the role. Cavill’s farewell came in Season 3, released in two parts during summer 2023.
Season 4 brings back Anya Chalotra as Yennefer, Freya Allan as Ciri, and Joey Batey as Jaskier, alongside a vast supporting cast including Laurence Fishburne (Regis), Eamon Farren (Cahir), Anna Shaffer (Triss Merigold), Mimî M Khayisa (Fringilla), Cassie Clare (Philippa), Mahesh Jadu (Vilgefortz), Meng’er Zhang (Milva), Graham McTavish (Dijkstra), Royce Pierreson (Istredd), Mecia Simson (Francesca), Sharlto Copley (Leo Bonhart), Danny Woodburn (Zoltan), and more.
The upcoming season also sets the stage for the series finale. Showrunner and executive producer Lauren Schmidt Hissrich has confirmed The Witcher will conclude with Season 5. The final two seasons were filmed back-to-back and will adapt Andrzej Sapkowski’s concluding novels: Baptism of Fire, The Tower of the Swallow, and Lady of the Lake.
