Punjab has entered a new era of eco-friendly transport with the launch of electric buses in Mianwali. All preparations for the service have been completed, and the first batch of 15 electric buses has already reached the city.
According to Punjab’s Transport Minister Bilal Akbar Khan, the electric bus service will be formally inaugurated in Mianwali on 15 September, giving residents a modern and environmentally friendly travel option. After Lahore, electric buses are being introduced across all districts of the province.
The minister said Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has fulfilled yet another promise of providing state-of-the-art transport facilities to the public.
Following Mianwali, the service will be launched in Wazirabad and then expanded in phases to other districts, with buses being dispatched accordingly.
Bilal Akbar Khan noted that the project began in Lahore with 27 electric buses and has been a success. A fleet of 1,100 electric buses is planned to provide millions of people with modern, affordable, and high-quality travel facilities across Punjab.
