Lahore: Police in Model Town have arrested a man accused of stealing gold jewelry belonging to his wife.
According to police, the woman had married a resident of Depalpur two years ago. She lodged a complaint claiming that gold ornaments worth Rs30 million had been stolen from her house.
On her complaint, a case was registered at Model Town Police Station over the theft of 80 tolas of gold jewelry.
Police, finding the circumstances suspicious, included the husband in the investigation. During questioning, the suspect confessed to the crime after three hours of interrogation.
Police said that on the suspect’s indication, 55 tolas of gold and Rs1.5 million in cash, hidden inside the house, were recovered.
The accused admitted to having already sold the remaining jewelry.
