Afghanistan’s Taliban-led government has expelled senior Indian diplomat Harish Kumar from the country, Afghan media reported.
According to the reports, Kumar was accused of holding meetings with opponents of the Taliban and attempting to organize them.
Citing sources, Afghan outlets said he was declared a “persona non grata” and ordered to leave Kabul on 17 August.
Sources added that Harish Kumar had been stationed in Kabul as an Indian diplomat and intelligence officer since the fall of the previous Afghan government.
On 16 August, Taliban officials reportedly summoned the Indian Embassy staff to inform them of the expulsion decision. Kumar departed for New Delhi the next day.
The Indian Embassy has not yet issued any public comment on the matter.
