Heavy rainfall in Hyderabad and its surrounding areas has severely disrupted daily life in the city. Intermittent light and heavy showers have submerged several areas in water, causing significant difficulties for residents.
In Hyderabad’s Latifabad, Qasimabad, and Taluka Hyderabad, the ongoing spells of rain have flooded low-lying areas, turning streets and roads into streams.
Other parts of the city, such as Citizen Colony, Thandi Sarak, and Qasimabad, also faced worsening conditions after heavy downpours. The accumulation of rainwater on roads disrupted traffic flow, creating severe problems for commuters. Many vehicles broke down in the water, while pedestrians also appeared distressed.
In suburban areas such as Hala, New Saeedabad, and Bhit Shah, heavy rain also affected the situation. Due to inadequate drainage systems, rainwater remains stagnant in these localities.
Considering the deteriorating weather conditions, the district administration has announced a holiday on Tuesday in all public and private educational institutions across Hyderabad as a safety measure. Educational activities in Matiari will also remain suspended. The district government has officially issued a notification of this decision to ensure timely awareness among students, parents, and institutions.
Residents have demanded that the government improve the drainage system to prevent such situations during rainfall, as the same scenes are witnessed every year and the lack of basic facilities continues to trouble the citizens.
